Title artwork
It's often an overlooked artform, but typography plays a crucial part in any comic book. I always take a whole day, or a half a day when I work on a new comic book just to come up with the title artwork.
A comic book I've got in the works called "the dark treaty", the title work is done. I'm pretty happy with this:

Clutching at straws issue 0
Here's the cover to Clutching at straws issue 0. I really liked how this whole issue came out, and I did it all from front to back in a week and a half. How? Don't ask me, seriously... I don't know.

Inked and coloured poster. GTG!
All done. This took me most of the day to ink and colour, but I feel it came out ok. I put in the order for this to be printed as a poster for the convention later this month, so it will be available for purchase.

Sketches Ahoy!
I'm preparing for Supanova hitting Perth. I want to sell original sketches while I'm over there, so I've been sketching a bunch of them, and of course keeping the originals.
Here they are:

Here's the completed inks to this picture. I don't think I will commit this to colours.
Done deal?! Let me know what you think... I'm open to suggestions.

Revisiting old work
I'm working on redoing this old picture from MWTF. I added the car in since the last version. Next i'm going to set out to do this with block shadows, like sin city. Hopefully it will come out looking really nice. I'll post up any efforts after this.

Draw over extraveganza!
Monday, April 14, 2008
I love me some inking.
You're probably all used to seeing these by now, but I'm still doing them. The infamous photo draw over inking exercise. I try and do one of these every now and again, just so I can get better at my feathering and line weight. You know, it actually works too, I picked up on a lot of things this time around, it's beginning to show.

Page 15 Pencils
I did some work on the pencils for page 15 today, this is what I nutted out.
In frame 2, they're supposed to be exhausted and trying to catch their breath, but that was a little bit tricky to draw. I think some more sweat marks and some sound effect wordart will do it.

Colours OVERLOAD
AAAAAnd, the colours. I wanted to touch on this really quickly. This is by far, the hardest page I've had to colour so far. There was a lot to it, and I don't really like the way it turned out. A little bit too busy I think. Better luck next time. I think the main thing I took away from this page was, keep it to the elements. Simple is better. Ok, till next update, i'm out.

The inks, took SO LONG
Here is the inks to page 14. This took me quite a long time actually. I am still getting the hang of the new style of inking I've adopted, it's getting there but I'm still not quite comfortable. You'll notice, sometimes the lines fall a bit flat and the weight clumps together. I'm getting there though.

Page 13 Inks
This is just a new page to chapter 2 of Clutching at Straws I've been working on in my spare time. The page looks completely different to page 12, I'm not sure if that'll annoy anyone when the book goes to print, with continuity of style, but oh well!! I'm doing this to get better.
I think it's going to look exceptionally good when I get the colours done.

Inside Issue 1
I needed to do the credits for the inside cover of issue 1. I went through all of the strips from this issue and couldn't find a decent stand alone picture to put in... so I had to go ahead and draw something new...
I think it looks good, took ages to colour, but I dig it. Sydney looks a bit different... I don't think anyone will mind :D

This is the cover for issue 2, which is only half complete.
This will probably print in July sometime.

Make with the.... STRAWS
I've been working on a new title for the online comic I draw for called Make with the Funny I wanted to market it better for print, because I'll be getting this first issue sent to the printers in a few weeks.
This is the finished artwork with new title for issue 1.

Griftin pencils
I wanted another picture to practice inking, so I drew this up today. This is about 3 and a half hours worth of drawing. I'm pretty happy with it, even though when I first started sketching out the poses, nothing was working. There's still some remnants I can notice even now, but for the most part it turned out ok.
I wanted to record this and speed the whole thing up including inks and perhaps maybe colours too, but the tape ran out half way through. I only captured up to about Griftin (guy on the right) and half way through Giar (the big guy on the left).
I might post up a sped up version of that capture sometime soon.

Inking Workshop
I've been concentrating on getting my inking thickened up, getting my hard blacks is something I've been wanting to get under my belt for a while, but I haven't taken the time to do the study. I did this page today and got more confident with ever new subject I tackled. Towards the end I think I've definitely got something to work with.

Griftin sketch
A lil sketch for a comic I've working on called Griftin.
I was messing around with hard blacks and differeing types of armour. Some stuff I like, some I don't so much. A bit of a wip.
